Whitening

Tooth whitening is popular for those looking to enhance their smile and boost their confidence by removing or reducing stains and discoloration. The process can be done using a variety of methods. We have in-office whitening

or take-home whitening kits available for you and can guide you with over-the-counter whitening products.

Some teeth can be discoloured from trauma or previous dental treatment. Internal whitening can dramatically improve the appearance of these teeth.

See below for some examples!

The In-Office Whitening Process

1. Consultation & Assessment

Your dentist begins by evaluating your teeth and gums to ensure you’re a good candidate for whitening. Any pre-existing conditions, such as cavities or gum disease, will need to be addressed beforehand.

2. Preparation

A protective barrier is placed over your gums and soft tissues to shield them from the whitening agent. Your teeth are cleaned to remove plaque and surface debris for even whitening.

3. Application of Whitening Gel

A whitening gel is applied to the tooth surfaces. A specialized light is used to activate the gel, accelerating the whitening process. The gel is left on for 15-30 minutes, depending on the whitening system used. The process may be repeated in multiple cycles during the appointment to achieve the desired level of brightness.

4. Final Rinse & Results

After the procedure, the gel is removed, and your teeth are polished, revealing a dramatically brighter smile!

Take-Home Whitening kits use trays and can be used at home with a lower-concentration whitening gel, offering a gradual whitening process over several days or weeks.

While dental whitening is generally safe, some individuals may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation.

The longevity of whitening results depends on individual habits, such as diet and oral hygiene. Regular touch-ups and avoiding staining substances can help maintain the results.

Internal Bleaching is a dental procedure used to whiten a tooth that has become discoloured from the inside. This discolouration often occurs in teeth that have undergone root canal treatment or have experienced trauma, leading to staining within the tooth structure. Unlike external bleaching, which targets surface stains, internal bleaching focuses on lightening the tooth from the inside out.

The treatment is minimally invasive, inexpensive, and the results can be wonderful!
