Pediatric and Family Dentistry

Pediatric and Family Dentistry focuses on providing comprehensive oral health care for patients of all ages, from children to adults. At Evergreen Dental Care, we understand the importance of nurturing a healthy, beautiful smile from a young age and offering ongoing support for the whole family.

When should I bring my child to the dentist for the first time?

It's recommended by the Canadian Dental Association to bring your child to the dentist within 6 months of the first tooth erupting. The main purpose of these visits is to work on prevention, education, and introducing your child to the office.

How can I prevent cavities in my child's teeth?Encourage good oral hygiene habits into their daily routines, such as brushing twice a day and flossing daily. Limit sugary snacks and drinks, and consider dental sealants or fluoride treatments to protect your child's teeth from cavities.

How to brush or floss my child's teeth?
Sit on the floor with them laying on your lap so you can see directly into their mouth. Floss first even if they have large gaps in their teeth (to develop a habit). Use a soft-bristled toothbrush (ideally electric!) and a "grain of rice" amount of toothpaste for children under 3 years of age. or a "pea size" if older.

Our kids love listening to interesting podcasts while we brush. Check out "Chompers" on Spotify.

Thumbsucking. Pacifiers. What's the deal? These oral habits negatively influence the way that the jaw, face and airway develop. It's important to promote proper growth and development from a young age to help your child grow into health and a healthy airway.

At Evergreen Dental Care, we offer 7am or evening appointments to help manage your busy schedule.
